Anywhere from hundreds to thousands of employees work in healthcare systems. Still, most who perform the same job duties often use duplicate job titles because, throughout the system, everyone with that job title performs similar work. This consistency in job descriptions ensures that healthcare professionals can safely transition from one healthcare facility to another and feel confident that they can meet the job’s expectations.

While it would be too lengthy to cover all the jobs in a healthcare system, the primary jobs that directly affect patient care will be included in the description, including their responsibilities, authority, training, and interaction protocols.

Can you imagine the numerous types of supplies and equipment required to operate a healthcare organization? It’s mind-blowing.  A complex healthcare system requires supplies for sterile wound care, office reports, computer parts, lawn care, toilet paper, water, food, medications, sheets, and many other essentials. A contract with a supplier is necessary for each of those, plus a backup resource, because hospitals can’t run out of supplies, as patients’ lives depend on those things.

Insight into why products are used as they are and how the transition to home care is addressed is provided in this section.
