Ministry Programs

Churches struggle with how to meet the needs of members with special medical or personal needs or those who can no longer attend services in person. Keeping them connected, ministering to their struggles, and acting as liaisons between those attending in the church building and those attending virtually is a job too large for the ministerial staff alone. It’s a job for the entire church membership to embrace. During the time of Jesus, the church functioned as a community caring for its members as a family. If a member of the community was ill and had no family to provide for their care, the church assumed the role of a family, preparing meals, assisting with chores, and caring for the individual. The increase in suicide, loneliness, divorce, and isolation all point back to our loss of connectedness within our communities and families. Churches used to be the core of that connection. Healthcare to Homecare encourages Churches to find a way to return to the principles Christ instructed us to model. In each village he entered, he reached out to the sick and hurting first. We can do the same with programs that focus on meeting the needs of those who feel abandoned and alone.

Medical ministries cover a range of topics from providing accommodations for medical or mental limitations, supporting and encouraging family caregivers, establishing a medical response team for church services, and helping those with medical needs feel safe and comfortable worshiping and engaging in activities while at church.

Ministries that provide support to individuals related to the overwhelming personal challenges they face daily. Examples include, but are not limited to, individuals restricted to their homes due to medical conditions (e.g., high risk of infection, immobility, equipment requirements, unpredictable behavior, incontinence concerns, lack of mobility-adapted transportation, etc.), recently divorced, widowed, separated by deployment, homeless due to fire or other structural damage, loss of job or other financial stability, chemical dependency, dependency of any kind, and so much more.
